Is there a minimum threshhold before they hit you with VAT and import duty ?? Below a thousand bucks we're safe here in Oz.

I have gone for the Drift HD 170, £139.99 w/ free delivery this is suppose to be a xmas present that I have picked and bought myself
so I will be back after xmas with my review/ thoughts. Maybe eventully get with Horney and do a decent comparison with his Contour HD
Thanks for the input guys.

Not that i'm aware of, as far as I know it's payable on any amount. Luck of the draw as to whether you get hit or not.

Anything below ~£20 (it is in that ballpark but I'm not sure on the exact amount) you don't pay VAT/import Duty which is why there are so many DVD/CD companies based in Jersey for the UK.

I think that only applies to Channel islands (might be wrong about that though), but the govt. have just announced they're closing that loophole.

No it applies to other countries outside the EU too however the cost of shipping from the next closes country means it is more cost effective to pay the VAT and be based in the UK. However you are correct it will be changing soon although I believe they are only lowering the limit rather then removing it entirely.

Said on the news they were removing the exemption completely, but wouldn't be the first time a news story has been innacurate.

Got a GoPro HD Hero 2 delivered today. My first camera, so difficult for me to compare with the others out there, but when I eventually pick up a bike I'll be spending my free time making some videos
My intention is to record the day I go and pick up the bike too
