Here you go last seasons black ones £245.99 delivered. Were £299, I think the new ones are £329-339.

Both pairs of Alpinestars I've had have squeaked like mad, drove me potty for day to day use. Tried everything to get rid of it. Still use them for Sunday blasts and track days, basically when not walking around.

Alpinestar for me  :028: and most of the guys I ride with  :062:
If you want to win you have to do what the other guys aren't doing.

I have wide feet and hig instep and cant get some boots on. The Vertigo Mega Gortex are fine.

Two pairs of Sidi Vertigo Mega Gortex. Same as the Vertigo, just waterproof and warm, and cool in the summer.

Same here these boots are great  :028:

I also have wide feet and a high instep and I find my Vertigo Goretex fit very well and are very comfy  :028:

No squeaks from any Astars I've tried, but Sidi are famous for it, going right back to the original Vertebra. i remember a few years back me and four mates had an impromptu evening blast over to Scraborough, all wearing Vertebra 2s. Walking down the seafront it sounded like the town had been invaded by a plague of mice, lol.

Daytona's or Alt berg. Daytonas are incredibly comfortable and last for ever. They are one of he few companies still manufacturing exclusively in Germany and they can repair/refurbish over a lifetime. If your into fashion, then neither of these boots will appeal, if your into top quality build and practicalities they are the sensible option.

I had a pair of Daytonas for 15 years. They were not Goretex but never leaked. When the sole wore out I decided to buy the Goretex version just for a change instead of having the old boots refurbished. In reality I threw £300 away because I believed I should have a fully waterproof boot even though it probably wasn't necessary.

Altberg are hand made in Richmond, about 12 miles from me. They are made to your size and are very strong. Again, nowt fashionable. You don't need toe sliders to ride on the road.

I hated walking through the office with them on, everyone would turn and stare as I squeaked by!

I use my toe sliders on the road, not al the time, but they do get worn, and without them I'd be going through the boot.

Daytona and Altberg are both good quality though (but for £800 for Daytona's top spec sport boot you'd expect them to be, lol).

I often stop off in Richmond in summer, down by the river, say hi if you see me, lol. I love the road in from Leyburn.

What are these boot things you all speak of? I wear Vans trainers. Excellent protection (tested a few times) and nice and airy in summer. Could do with the toe sliders mind you, they're all buffed down the sides.

Keep meaning to get some short boots but most (all?) of them look total w**k :004:

How are you meant to stop your trainers getting all buffed to bits then?

Yeah, I draw the line at flip flops. Vans are really tough though, there's no comparison. Safety first :018:
