About to buy my first Triumph Triple..
« on: February 13, 2012, 07:03:33 PM »
Hi,

45, slightly too fat, ankles lock up, past it in general..  I'm amongst friends  :008:

A '95 VFR750 is a truly sublime motorcycle but she's getting on a bit now and she's tooooo heavy for my little legs up
my sloping drive these days..

My fourth mid-life crisis is about to unfold, Wednesday see's me pick up a private sale '08 ST 675 in White.

2nd owner, May '08, Triumph's own Screen, hugger and front cowl fitted from new, 5000 miles and mint.

My God it's so damn funky! After the VFR an ST feels like it needs weights holding it down in case it floats off in the breeze..

This group looks to be a fountain of useful knowledge, Forums are so useful for a newbie like me.

Glad to be here,

Rob.

:401: Along. Great bike the VFR, are you gonna keep it for longer trips? I never found anything much more comfortable.

Welcome Rob - looks like you've landed in the right place  :001:

The white Street Triple was the first bike that I looked at that really got my heart pumping - it's gorgeous and I'm sure you'll love it  :028:

I had an old K100RS for touring duty, for a short while. I watched it bend it's own side stand, when loaded with all my missus stuff. lol

Hi Rob and you're welcome to the forum... Don't worry about the the extra mid width, most of us here are more or less in the same boat.

You'll love the ST. It's a great bike. Shame you didn't get the R and in a grownup's colour. We all know here that the Phantom Black IS the fastest and best looking colour. The rest are just wannabes.  :007:      :008:

You'll find some members on here disagree with me, but they are mostly frustrated  :018:

hello and welcome.

people at work reckon my first midlife crisis started in my thirties when I bought a westfield, then again when I had an Mx-5 and again when I bought a harley, and I'm only 41 now

I expect there will be another when I eventually get round to buying another bike (maybe a triple :) )

I'm a bit on the porky side too, must be a man thing (or a beer thing)

Thanks for all the comments! Active forum, that's good to see.

The VFR is for sale if anyone's interested, I'm one of those guys you want to buy a bike off.. Life-long engineer, no compromises, look after my stuff.
The bike is REALLY clean, looks like a 5 year old bike, needs nothing and is very red (R158 Rainbow Red, now that's a colour!)

I'm astounded by the Triple, it's probably the best bike I've ever ridden (and I've ridden a few!), it also intrigues as there's loads going on underneath
on a highly technical level, the noises it makes when you switch the ignition on for instance, and WHAT are those 'modem' noises it makes a minute after switch off..?

Bizarre.

Errr.. hopefully that's normal  :006:

Thanks again for the welcome, I'm off to find some info about connecting my laptop to this beauty and using it for maintenance purposes etc.

Rob.
