I just don't understand why Triumph still don't include an immobiliser on the street and I have the 2012 model, seriously.

Less profit for them if they do. It's a budget bike (albeit no longer with a budget pricetag).

Everyone seems to be going on about gangs still being able to nick your bike here...

What about simple opportunist thieves? Some form of alarm or deterrent will help.

Im going to europe next year and am definitely going to fit something when my bikes parked outside hotels / b&b's etc..

----------------

I once called at a mates and was in his house for literally 2 minutes, come out and my FZ6 had gone. 2 people walkin down the road with a dog said is that ur bike? Some lads just ran off down there with it. Luckily I knew the area and knew they wud have been halfway accross the field with it. So rather than running to the end of the street to get on the field I climbed over my mates garage straight onto the field and found it close by in a bush. You could see the flat grass where it had been pushed into the bushes. I was very lucky!

But an alarm or disklock would have stopped an opportunist.

But a disc lock will suffice. No need to spend out 250+ for an alarm.

That's my theory - a disk lock alarm will stop a random Ned nicking it but if professional thieves want it they'll get it.

That's exactly what disclocks are for.

Ooh, you bitch, lol. Proper kicked myself for that, I've never once done it before in 18 years, I wasn't even getting on the bike.

Mixed opinions. Conclusion is that alarms buy you peace of mind and deter amateur thugs from nicking your pride and joy but if some professional outfit wants your bike they'll take it. I'm still undecided but thanks for all the feedback !!!

A disc lock will also deter the common thief/thug from nicking it and only costs 20% of an alarm and doesn't drain your battery.

A lot of stolen bikes get stripped apart and sold as spares... No frame numbers or identity to tanks, wheels or body work!

I do not have an alarm yet. I'm going to ring my insurance and see what difference it would make, at £320 to be installed at the dealership it has to cause a massive discount!  :008:

Shameless plug   :007:

I have one for sale at the moment , could save yourself a bit of cash and just pay the dealer to install it....

Hmmm... It is tempting...

I might go down to the dealer tomorrow and see what they say about the cost of fitting. It looks exactly the same as the alarm on my mates speed triple so it should be ok, i'll check about that whilst at the dealer too  :008:
