I've been getting quotes of around £400 and I am yet to pass the annoying module one test.  Not to bad for some one of the age of 25 FC

Ouch! Mine was 500 first year and 400 this year. I'm now 24 with 2 years no claims and had license 2 years (had 125s before I did test though) thats for fully comp with pillion, legal, europe and ride any bike. I dont think thats too bad?

Not sure age has anything to do with it anymore as I am 47 and my Street costs me £600 TPFT, and that after weeks of calls and going on-line.

Best quote for a CBR600RR was £3000 :087: FC. Passed my test 29 years ago and have done my time as a dispatch rider, racer and tourer. Now a home owner, married with kids. Full NCB on car.

Against me I have no NCB, live in London and work in TV. No NCB due to not having a bike for a 3 year gap.

Seems crazy that I can't get cover on bikes that I used to own when I was a nutty 20+ year old.

Its worth every penny though  :038:

Was originally quoted the same, (21, first big bike after a 125, just passed DAS, live in Kent, 1 year ncb) but managed to get MCE to quote me £775 FC :018:

I was 48 when I bought the ST some two and a half years ago.
I've been riding since 1977.
I've never had an at fault accident. In fact I haven't had an accident of any kind since 1992.
I have been banned 4 times in the last 20 years, and when I got the bike had 11 0f a possible 12 points on my licence (got banned again shortly afterwards).
All of those points are for bullshit petty speeding, lane-splitting and riding the hard shoulder (nothing serious or dangerous imo). I ride a lot and live in the big city so I do have to duck and weave in the traffic. I had no no-claims bonus because my RG500 was only ever insured third party.
I paid $A12,000 for the bike and my quote for fully comp from the dealer? -- $A4000 a year. Yep four grand, a third of the price of the bike.
When I finally stopped laughing I pointed out that over the last thirty-odd years I had cost the insurance companies precisely nothing. But of course it's all about future risk.
Well in six months time it will be three years and I will be using the money I saved on insurance to buy a new bike. Of course I would have preferred to be insured, but instead spent a couple of hundred on disc-locks and alarms. Stuff 'em!
When it comes to bike insurance old age is only an advantage if you've been a good boy or girl.

 :002:

Food for thought....if you have been banned a few times for non dangerous driving...surely you would be a better risk...as you would be on the road for less time.. maybe just 9months or 6 months out of 12 :027:

La Parisienne Biker?????

You'll definitely not be insured for the Arc de Triomphe and when the time comes round that you might actually need to claim they'll probably be on strike!

ever heard of em mate

So got my renewal today. 4 years no claims and my insurance quote is £65 more than my premium of last year plus my insurer won't insure me again (WTF) hence the difference.

Age: 36/37
NCB: 4 years
Post code: EH54
Price: £272.48

Bugger this I'll be shopping around my premium should be coming down not going up!

Maybe they have been on here and seen some of the company you keep?

I have tried multiple sites and they are all pretty poor. Strangely I have just tried Wicked and got 3 prices for Equity red star. The most expensive having the highest excess (WTF).

£108 = £0 compulsory - £300 voluntary excess
£284 = £250 compulsory - £300 voluntary excess
£384 = £250 compulsory - £300 voluntary excess

I don't understand it but can you trust it? I don't want issues come problem time.

Even weirder, took all excess off and policy is £105. Seriously something wrong here.

Did Hastings Direct and got a very good price for the policy but the excess is mad.

Policy: £184
Comp Excess: £500
Vol excess: £500

Forget about it!
