I merged the insurance threads that was over 2 areas.
So what's the cheapest quote on this forum so far (with who, no claims, etc.)? And most expensive one? Who will be the record holders, lol.
I had £108 but that scared me away, to cheap. I tried to redo the quote and failed. Maybe it was a computer cliché.

I emailed my insurer last night and said that them quoting me £65 more than last year is bs. Also I got a quote for the same insurer (different broker) for £100 less. So sort something out.
Got a email with a quote for £215, that's a whole 57 less. Now why couldn't you do that in the 1st place. Only snag is that the compulsory excess is £500. I'll still be shopping around for a better deal and maybe I'll get one.

Anybody on here got Carole Nash?
They offer UK&EU accident and breakdown cover, 90 days European cover and legal cover included in the policy. I'm tempted as the extra would make up the price for me being more.

It's Aquote playing games, lol.
I'll do some proper research next week with the Carole Nash deal. There was nothing for mods though, so I guess it would be a phone call.

Carole Nash are the best insurance company I've dealt with. Have been recovered by them twice, both times asap with a dedicated bike trailer/van and tie downs.
I got free RAC cover with this new bike, but will use CN again next year maybe.

Tried again this afternoon to get some quotes and choose one. Did the online quote for Carole Nash first.
£256.39 initially (£200 excess) without any mods. I phoned and asked them to add my slipons and carbon bits which takes my bike to around £7000 (not that I will get that much though). Confirmed that the respray to matt black won't cost more, standard colour so it's fine. She said that would cost another £70 for the mods though, I said I'm sorry but I won't be paying that. I gave her my cheapest quote I got was £120 (from Tesco for Red flag) which has European cover and the only reason I was willing to pay over the odds was for the breakdown cover. She has hang on.
Comes back and the excess has gone up by £50 and the policy is £1 more from the original quote. I asked her to email or post the quote out and there is something else I want to check first. She says what would she need to do to get me to take it right there and then. I said drop the price by £30. She says hang on.
Comes back with a quote for £226 and £250 excess.
So just shows you that if they want to they can do a good deal. The initial quote with mods were £100 more.
I'm paying £11 more than last year but I have breakdown cover (UK/Euro), lawyer cover and Europe cover.

After the bike is stolen - dealing with the insurance company
«

Following the recent posts about stolen bikes...
I am in the second year of doing a diploma in dispute resolution and recently had the opportunity to negotiate with an insurance company after my Duccati was written off when it met a truck stopped in the middle of the road.
Using the principles of appealing to objective criteria, persistence and imaginative questioning I eventually got 100% - which was about 30% more than they originally offered. However it is very important to note that I did it all by e-mail. Trying to think of the right questions / responses when on the phone was far too much for me. After each email from the company it probably took me 20 minutes each time to phrase a reply - but it sure paid off. Along these lines:
Insurance adjuster:
We have studied your case and we have decided the policy applies that means you're entitled to a settlement of £3000
Tom:
I see. How did you arrive at that figure?
Insurance adjuster:
That's how much we decided the bike was worth (Or maybe) we had two independent valuations done and 3000 is halfway between the two
Tom:
I understand. Are you able to tell me what standard each of those valuers used to work out the figure they arrived at? Do you know where I can buy a comparable bike for 3000?
Insurance adjuster:
Look, I’m sorry, it’s out my hands, company policy is to have two valuations done this is what we always do
Tom:
For all I know 3000 may be fair. All I am asking for is what I am entitled to under the policy but unless I understand the objective basis for the figure how do I know if it's fair? I understand I do have some alternatives to simply accepting your offer?
(Note – need to READ the policy before starting this process (which requires nerves of steel and the patience of Job)– you will probably have questions about the excess as well as the objective basis for working out the amount they offer – I eventually got my excess back.)
Once they reveal the objective basis, then you look for exceptions / differences which add value to your claim – e.g all those extra features you added to the bike – even the cut chain.
I actually found it quite therapeutic. It took about a month and getting 100% back did help with the grieving process for the bike. (And, in case anyone is wondering - my eldest son was riding it at the time, quite fast, he was quite badly damaged but seems to have made a full recovery after about a year)

short-circuit asked who the insurer was - I (eventually) found out it was Vero; that was after I wore out my broker to the point he connected me directly with someone at Vero, I think that was a "classic cover" type policy but can't remember for sure now - the ultimate satisfaction was obliterated all the preceding memories :-)

Gap insurance

Has anyone heard or bought this insurance, my dealer was telling me about it.
I stand to be corrected but how I think it works you pay £299-£399 over 3 years on top of your own bike insurance when you buy your bike (maybe new bikes only not sure) and if your bike is nicked or have an accident you are guaranteed the full price of the bike back from this company I think it is Blackhourse again not sure.
For sure there will be lots of small print to be careful off will try and find out a bit more..

I'm sure there is a few people who has done it. I never did but I would have been very annoyed if I lost the bike in my 1st year due to theft or accident.
Have you done a search for gap insurance? I found this
one
.
PS: Moved your thread to insurance one.
