Always liked that black and gold scheme, as someone who grew up in the JPS Norton era. Would've got one had i not come across my bike in a shop at a great price and low mileage.
I've ridden RoI as well and agree entirely with your comments. I'm a little bit jealous actually, maybe i should round up my bike buddy and do it again (silly shogger went and had kids, hardly get him out at all now, but they're nearly teenagers now so maybe...)
We went across and up to Dublin, down the West coast, along the bottom, and back on the ferry from Rosslare IIRC. The roads (back then) were not exactly bikers paradise, there was gravel, suicidal sheep, mad dogs, and (genuinely) Paddy and Murphy pushing a piano up a country lane when we went! But the scenery is fantastic, and the people very friendly, good food too, and of course Guinness and whiskey. Would love to go again.
The only V8 I'm likely to own comes in one litre tetrapaks and tastes like celery.
