overheating ??
« on: August 26, 2019, 08:12:08 PM »
Had a small trip out on my bike todayand only about 15 miles and when i stoped i noticed some water coming out of a breather pipe and a little steam. Any ideas what it could be.

Was it from your coolant tank. If you fill the 2007 - 2012 coolant tank above "MIN" when cold, on a day like today it will spill over ...... so go check the level now and see how much is in the tank, now that  you have parked it up for its bedtime. It should be on MIN when the bike is level and upright...if not, you could sponge some out or just leave it to overflow again, as eventually it will stop doing it when the level falls or when the summer ends, which is this Wednesday  :007:

Daft thought, but bare with me - you hadn't washed the bike before going out, had you?

I find that, even if I dry the bike thoroughly, there's always a little water left somewhere that then heats up by the radiator...

Hi.
What was the reading on the temp gauge? Was it running at the normal temp (bearing in mind that weather was particularly warm in many areas over the weekend)?

A friend's 2009 Daytona was doing this and turned out to be a bad radiator cap. Popped a new one on and the problem disappeared. Guess over time the spring or seal failed.
