Frequently Given Answers
« on: December 09, 2019, 09:48:58 PM »
Given the quite period all forums go through this time of year, I was pondering the commonly given answers. Heres a completely unscientific list of possibly useful answers. If no-one is about, and you have a burning question, try picking an answer

You should definitely choose the Street Triple (this IS the Street Triple forum)

Yes, Street Triples are awesome.

Yes the purple ones look cool

Caribbean Blue, only for one year - go figure!

Any 10W40 semi-synthetic of the correct spec

Metzeler M7RR, but all modern tyres are good

No, I dont answer tyre pressure questions!  (...34/39)

No, they all make those modem dial up sounds on turning off

Hmmm, ticking noise you say, cam chain

Three heat cycles

No, they dont usually need adjusting at 12k

Yep, thats a typical dealer sort of price for the 24k service

Clive Wood

Search for him on Facebook

Yes, there is a place called Swineshead near Boston

Yep, Lincolnshire. Flat and cabbage fields, yep your nearly at Boston

TOR? Triumph Off Road

Buy the Arrows

No, I dont know whether it would fit

Try putting Accessory part number into Triumph Instructions web page

No, I dont know the correct name for that part either

Try Fowlers Parts website

Yep, no fuel gauge on Gen 1

No, the Plug & Play Quickshifter wont fit the 08

No, thats for a Daytona

The VIN? Find it on the headstock

No, its NOT VIN number. VIN = Vehicle Identification Number, so VIN number is a tautology

Well, how rude!

Thanks very much for that comprehensive information, it answered so many questions that have been bugging me since I got my Street a couple of months ago !! :087:

Seriously, a big thank you to all those that take the trouble to answer us Newbies silly questions but as everyone knows you don't always get a handbook and in any event who reads instructions that come with anything , anyway ?!!  :134:

Psst, anyone fitted mirror extender risers to 2012 model ?  :305:

Yes, I must be clear, this is NOT a dig at new (or long time) member questions. I was new 18 months ago and this is just my quiet time musings about what is often asked and answered. With a vague attempt at whimsy about VIN number

Haha, that's good.

But Swineshead?    Seriously?   You engrish are odd.  Is that near Ramsbottom?  Hoho.  Oh gawd!  That's a place too.

So good I've had to show all my friends. Mostly because I have a purple Street.  :001:

Good, though. It really does answer most of the questions as well as being a fun read.

I hoped youd like the purple reference. It is a colour that needs to be seen in the flesh so to speak.

HAHAHA - GREAT read and fun that, RBA3!  You did, however, omit the inevitable :-

"No, they all do that."

"They're the best tyres you can fit ..... "

and "Have you set the static sag?"

Thanks Adie
There were a few I thought of and left out and plenty more Im sure I havent thought of that others could add.

Yep, nothing about suspension. I could have include nope, Ive got a non-R so none of that adjustment malarkey

Or the no, those aftermarket levers are for the R/non R, which is why the brake lever is no good on your non R/R

Havent gone into electrics either (connector corrosion, stator issues, reg / rectifier)
