Your short bulb life seems a little unusual.

My 2014 STR is still running its original bulbs with over 25k miles...

Does seem you are beig a little unlucky with the bulbs, i did over 15k on my 2103 STR and currently have 15k on my 2107 STRS and haven't changed a bulb on either of them.

Cheers for the replies.

I did mention the amount of replacements to the dealer's parts chap when I picked the new bulb on Saturday and he seemed surprised and not heard it is a common problem.

I'll see how I get on with this one, and if that goes perhaps I'll look at a non OEM one.

Have you checked that all the headlamp unit mountings are properly tightened and, if there are rubber washers/spacers, etc., that these are all in place?  Vibration is the biggest culprit for blowing bulbs so if the headlamp unit is vibrating that could be a potential cause.

Best of luck getting a more reliable outcome, though!

Adie

Thanks for that. I'll have a look and see if it's all as tight as possible and fitting well.

Well Youre not the only one!  My right side bulb went a couple of months ago and today the left one popped!  I just got the standard Halfords (bike specific) one to replace it. Its a bit more yellow than the OEM but at least they now match again  :001:

Bike is a 765R coming up to 2 years old. Its done a fairly low 7000 miles but used every day in all weathers as a commuter. Maybe there was a dodgy batch of bulbs or something. Well see how long the Halfords ones last.
