Melted headlight lens's
on: March 25, 2020, 12:07:29 PM
Hi folks. So, just been quoted 461 ex vat for replacement headlights from Shirlaws as the lens's on my 2013 street triple have melted and wont pass the mot thats now due.
Any advice? Saw a previous post about using the Speed/765 unit and there seens to be a few used ones about, but open to suggestions. Tried contacting Triumph directly, they didn't want to know. Cheers and stay safe 👍

If you convert to two round 5 3/4" headlights it can be done for around 120 pounds.

These should fit a street triple and the mounting on the bucket is like the old style headlights.

You can still change it back after MOT....

Did you use high wattage halogens,, hids or led bulbs in your stock headlights?

Hi Crossgolf. Nope just the standard ones, nothing aftermarket or different.

Bikes only done 9k, the lights were clear with very minimal fogging before being put away for the winter. Turned over to warm the engine every 4 weeks. Bike cover was on a couple of those times but only noticed when I tiok it out of the shed last week 😕

Thanks n.w.den
Not sure that would work as its properly melted and bulged out. I did find this though, wondered if theres any place in the UK that would do it-

and this is probably the issue, when you are riding the bike the lenses are cooled by the air, when sat running but not moving heat build up will be MUCH higher (obviously excessive), I'm not saying this is right but I would guess this is what caused it.
