As a shortass I love my kickstand foot. It's an eBay job from Germany. It has "Street Triple" etched into it (I have a weakness for bling).
It holds the bike a tiny bit more upright, but not too much. I've had the same make on both Streets and the Daytona and never had one drop off or come loose. I'm often parked on grass and I'm an all weather/all year round rider. I've never had one sink in at all
I have ankles that dislocate with very little provocation but having the plate on makes it easy for me to find it with a toe without a single dislocation in 8 years.
I tried a puck, as like everyone else I have several freebies lying around, but for several reasons I struggle to get the stand on and off the things and didn't like pulling up the muddy bit of plastic on a curly string and having to stow it somewhere once I'm perched on tiptoes, ready to set off.
I know lots of people never have a problem with a puck but for me, that sidestand foot makes my life so much easier and I never have to think about carrying anything extra.
Your home made one looks just the job. If I didn't already have one I'd be in the queue to buy one.
