Which Master Cylinder / lever?
on: July 12, 2020, 12:09:17 PM
Hi all,

I bought the (19) R because I preferred itís power delivery over the RS, but I always intended on upgrading the brakes at some point as the RS brakes are amazing.

I am looking at the master cylinders for both bikes and even checking official parts list am struggling to check the differences other than which lever is used.

Does anyone know for sure if the main MS block is the same on both bikes? When I say block I mean the item at the centre of the picture that all the bits connect to, the only one that isnít numbered 🤨

Iím hoping that by changing the lever and callipers Iíll have the RS brakes without having to buy a new MS assembly but I canít tell for certain.

No they aren't the same, the RS Master Cylinder is adjustable for ratio (changes the lever feel) where as the R one is a Brembo (so still good) but a lesser model. The R brakes are more than adequate anyway. Yes the RS ones are SUPERB but possibly overkill - no that I'll be changing mine any time soon  :001:.
