Rear huggers - interchangeable?
on: October 23, 2020, 09:00:23 PM
Hi,

Does anyone know if huggers are interchangeable between generation 1 and 2 models?

Somehow mine has been touching the rear tyre and has 2 holes in it :005:

The 2007 - 2012 huggers do not fit the 2013 onward models, but the Daytona of the same era's fit  :028:

Hi Tom,

Thanks for that, however trying to find a generation 1 hugger from either a Daytona or ST is slim pickings. Found one in a breakers and is on my watch list.

Uploaded some pictures of the damage. Clearances between rear tyre and hugger very tight so have "jacked" my hugger up a little but adding 2 washers each to the front 2 bolt holes. Should be fine now.

Never had that. There is a shorter hugger about if that's of any interest....they are easier to find. There is also a larger aftermarket carbon one at about 95

Very strange,

If you don't find a used piece, you can fix it with 2 components epoxy dressed on two pieces of mesh cut in the shape of the holes, that are placed in the back.
Let it harden overnight, then scuff and repaint black. I would take my time and even wrap it carbon to be creative.

My rear hugger doesn't even come close to my backtyre:

Thanks for the pictures, i have found a hugger for not a lot of money so will just replace as not very practical with bodywork.

Nope, 180/55 as before. I have gone with Avon's this time and in the dim distant past i have read somewhere that their tyres can be a little higher than other makes. 2 x 1mm washers under the 2 rear bolts have jacked it up so no change of any dragging now.
