Picked this up last month and have been steadily detailing it and changing bits...

Bits I've added a lot of things from the Triumph catalogue:

* Red bar-end weights
* Red gear actuator
* Red swingarm adjusters
* Red paddock stand bobbins
* Fork protectors
* Frame and engine protection


Also:

* Akrapovic exhaust
* Oberon Performance reservoir caps
* Triumph branded red aluminium valve caps
* Pro-Bolt red oil-cap


This is the first time I've had heated grips in over 20 years of riding.  They're going on every bike from now on!  It's also got the Triumph tail tidy and R&G radiator protector.


Cleaning products used were a variety of cloths and toothbrushes, WD40, Dodo Juice Born to Be Mild, Meguiars Crystal Paint Cleaner, Dodo Juice Spin Doctor 2 with Tall Boy backing plate and little red finishing pad with Dodo Juice Supernatural Micro Prime, Dodo Juice Tropic Red Mist.  Totalling the time spent, I believe it comes to somewhere between 20 and 25 hours.


I just can't wait to go for a proper ride now! :)

Nice work, indeed.  It's going to be heartbreaking to get it dirty - hope you don't have to ride through any puddles!

And then it happened!  I popped out to get an emergency supply, ran through town and they had a burst water main somewhere.  Salty water all over the swing arm, rad cover, under tray, rear brake and rear shock.  Nuts!

WHOOPSEEEE!   Sorry to hear that.  Console yourself with the thought that it will be SLIGHTLY quicker second time around because you'll have the knowledge, experience and practice from the first exercise.   Cold comfort?

Oh yeah.  Once cooled, I gave it a thorough rinse, wash, and another thorough rinse.  Dried and warmed thoroughly to allow the heat to evaporate remaining water, and dry the brakes.  I'm not sure if it's the rad guard, but boy does the radiator hold on to the water!  It's looking superb again.  As you say, definitely a lot easier now after it's had some serious cleaning done.

Thinking of changing the hugger though.
