2017-19 RS front preload adjuster?
on: April 01, 2021, 06:32:28 PM
Trying to change to comfort settings. Thought I would check preload first following the owners manual and have got hopelessly lost!
It says 3.5 turns clockwise from fully anti clockwise.
Do they mean revolutions or clicks?
Thanks.

thatís what I understood from the manual, because how could you adjust it by half a click. But Iím not sure my suspension has that much movement.
Has anyone actually done it themselves?

I adjusted my front pre load to set the sag. I dont think softer pre load helps comfort....that is achieved with compression and rebound adjustment.
I am 11.5 stone and needed more pre load on the rear and less on the front to get the sag correct, then played with other settings for comfort, Still on the firm side but much improved.
When adjusting front pre load, count the lines showing on each side.

Hi, I know preload isn't for comfort, but just the starting point.  It looks like I'm not using the last 10mm of travel after 200 miles of typical hard riding so that suggests too much preload, yes?
I know the conventional way of setting sag, but that requires help - just trying to see what I can do on my own first.
The RS doesn't have lines, it's just an allen key adjustment at the bottom of each leg.

My mistake, I was assuming your adjusters were similar to my earlier STR.
Good luck with your set up, mine still needs some tweaking but I think I am nearly there. :028:

Are you road riding or track riding? If road riding I would think not using the last 10mm is about right, only on track when flat out should you realistically expect to fully use all the travel. You need a little bit left for when hard on the brakes and you hit a bump.

Well Iíve got it set to comfort. God knows what Iíve done to preload but out on the bikes tomorrow, if I remember to set a zip tie hopefully Iíll see what itís like.
