Best engine oil to use for trackdays
« on: April 18, 2015, 11:16:50 AM »
Hi guys just gonna change oil ready for my trackday at cadwell park next Tuesday on STR and I'm wandering which oil to use especially as the bike will be on the limiter nearly all day. I've read somewhere that fully synthetic is better for hard riding...Yor help is appreciated guys, cheers.

Except in specific cases of bikes requiring semi synthetic lubricant, I'm surprised anyone uses anything else but fully synthetic these days.

I'm told a Amoil is the best synthetic you can buy, but very expensive stuff. Silkoline and Motorex always score highly.

If  look on moto forum mate they are all racers on there and will probably give you the heads up, but I would of thought castrol would be ok as long as you change it regular..

+1. Purely (using Halfords) for price comparison:
Castrol 4T - semi - 38
Castrol Racing 4t - fully - 40
... so certainly Castrol fully synthetic for me and costs me even less with their trade card. I get 2 cans for what my dealer charges for the oil on a service and it's the Triumph recommended oil which my dealer doesn't stock. :211:
STILL OWN: 79 Triumph T140E Bonneville (from new June 1979),
GONE P/X: 13 Triumph Street Triple (from new Sept 2013)
COMING: 16MY Triumph Tiger 800 XRt (Sept 2015)

We don't stop playing because we grow old.....we grow old because we STOP playing !!
