Std ST 2013-2016 Fork info
« on: September 08, 2018, 04:19:17 PM »
Wondering about some winter tinkering, but there do not seem to be any UK listed linear springs for the 2013> bike. Are the OEM springs linear ?
I know I could send them to Maxton and others, but I'm not ready for the full works yet. The cartridge is pressed in? and the bottom clamp and leg need to be split which doesn't always go well?

Does any one have length and diameter for the standard spring? Does it taper?

I find the current forks a bit harsh and I'm surprised I only get 25mm rider sag (I am 85kg kitted up).

From the K Tech and Racetech part numbers I can see diameter(s) and length so I can get something right diameter and close in length and adapt spacers to suit. (Done similar but on right way up forks)
I have a 550lb/ft spring on the rear Nitron which converts closest to 8N/mm.
I'm inclined to go for a lighter oil and maybe a bit more air gap, as a first experiment.
I've ordered a fork spring compressor tool, so I'll look for myself when I can get round to not riding it.
Any info or opinions gratefully received (none R remember )
Thanks
David

You can speak to Richard at Maxton....you dont have to get a conversion. They will service your forks and do as little or as much as you like to them.....im sure they can set up a spring oil combo only for you.... :028:

That's a good point , but the bike has done less than 3k miles in just over 3 year so I'm not thinking of a full fork service yet. (I've put 1800 on it in 3 months though)
Just thinking of some winter tinkering that I can do.
Seriously thinking of Maxton or similar in a year or 2.
Asked one of the other oft mentioned suspension places and they only suggested full Matris install for 670.
