Angeles Crest Highway, Los Angeles
« on: September 20, 2018, 04:38:21 AM »
I post these video rides every now and again but I thought Id do it here just cause. A couple of things to keep in mind here for perspective. Statistically this is the most dangerous motorcycle stretch in the U.S. when it comes to fatalities. Its also the most beautiful stretch (at least in my opinion) in the U.S.

Its a motorcyclist dream come true when it comes to sweepers but it includes 60 miles of impossible hidden radius turns as well. Ive been riding it for decades but Id admit that with each passing ride (and year) I retreat a bit just because seemingly every ride revels, at best, an horrific get off and at worst a fatal.

I tried a bunch to edit this video much more from an idea of visual of the sites than motorcycle-centric vid.

Looks good. Is this San Gabriel Canyon Road? Highway 39?

How do you mount your camera?

Thanks

Yep....I think most riders consider San Gabriel Road as actually being Angeles Crest. One and the same. Its a horseshoe route that goes up into the mountains. Those of us on the more western end of the San Fernando Valley pick up the Angeles Crest run at La Canada where those way out east pick it up at San Gabriel Road. Theres a meeting spot roughly in the middle called Newcombs Ranch.

The camera is a simple sugru adhesive chin mount.

Wow what a great area for riding! Beautiful scenery, no wonder people take their eyes off the road and follow their gaze though. Those of us finding it difficult to escape the gravitational pull of London England and the asteroid belt known as the M25 will be very jealous. Those blue skies and mountains! I have to go abroad on my bike again soon before i lose the will to live!

The only V8 I'm likely to own comes in one litre tetrapaks and tastes like celery.

Play nicely!
Bikes I've had:
Vespa 150 Super, GPz500s, FZR600R, ZX6R, FZS1000 (x2), 2009 Matt Graphite STR
and some pedally ones as well!
