Maxton NR4 or Nitron NTR R1
« on: January 01, 2019, 11:27:44 AM »
Hi all

Looking to upgrade my rear shock on my 14 STR and have settled on one of these 2.
http://www.nitron.co.uk/catalogue_item.php?catID=12987&prodID=76727
https://www.maxtonsuspension.co.uk/files/nr4.html

I don't take it on track just looking for an improvement over the oem shock. I've seen good reviews about nitron on here but not much about the maxton. Is it worth the extra 90 odd quid? Would be interested to hear your opinions on both and what they were like to deal with.

Cheers
Ben

It was quite a while, cant remember exactly but not too long. Worth the wait. I got mine shortened by them too so I removed the lowering links.

Good quality bit of kit imo.

Maxton are an excellent company to deal with. They keep your suspension records forever, so they always know how yours was set up and can service it whenever as its made on site and they have all the machining capability there too. You can also talk to the owner Richard, unlike many faceless companies out there. Clive Wood also like Maxton stuff so thats a recommendation on its own  :028:
Note: I have Maxton both front and rear on my 09 Street.

Thanks guys. I'm going to phone both this week to get a bit more info. Ive read a lot about Richard at maxton he seems to be a good bloke to talk to. Good to know about Clive's use of maxton too as he'll be fitting it for me at the end of March.

Tom can I ask what your front set up is as I'm looking at doing those later in the year?

Cheers

Mines not an R so will be very different to yours. Your conversion will be alot cheaper. Again, speak to Richard and he can tell you (or Clive) Also, if you Email Maxton, they will send you the option sheet for your bike (front and rear) explaining the differences etc.  :028:  I believe that Richard and Clive know each other very well, as Clive has used them for many years   :031:

NTR R3 looks like a nice bit of kit! Just a bit above and beyond what I need. Which cartridge kit did you go for James?
Thanks
