Second hand Ohlin shock?
« on: February 03, 2019, 05:53:08 AM »
Looking at a second hand Ohlin rear shock for my 2012 Street Triple.

It looks in very good condition but wanted to know if they need servicing at any point and if so costs? Just that the mileage cant be verified.

That will always be a good upgrade.

In saying that, me personally would always service it before installing it, irrespective of what they tell you about the condition of the shock... Here in OZ, cost for a basic shock service with oil change, will be around $400 (220 GBP), and depending on what they "find" this can then go up.

Having it serviced is a good idea if you don't know how many miles it has done. Picked up a used Ohlins a while back for my Tiger but it had a verified 900 miles on it so did not get it serviced. It was sprung for a pixie so had to have a stiffer spring installed. Check that it has the correct spring for your weight, easy to change while it is apart for servicing.
